In 1996, when the Charitable Choice Law was signed, I learned that this (Faith Based) law was a God-given way to meet the needs of my congregation and the community at large through federal, state and local grants. After a study of the Charitable Choice Law, I went on a campaign to educate church and community leaders of the effect this law would have in the communities. In 1997 after the death of my oldest brother, I was called back to my hometown of Youngstown to pastor The Gospel Temple Baptist Church and while there established the Center for Community Empowerment, the community outreach arm of the church and The Pathway Partner. Group, a collaboration of leaders representing the faith and grassroots communities working together to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Since that time, the Pathway Partners Group has evolved into pastor and community leaders throughout the US representing over 100 faith and community organizations.

Today, I’m a retired Lecturer from the Department of Social Work at the Youngstown State University. I am blessed to facilitate and host grant-writing workshops, seminars and conferences both nationally and locally. I am a consultant for business, community, government and faith-based organizations. I have and currently serve on a variety of state and national boards and committees. I am affiliated with the Woodson Center and their 1776 Unites Project, their Community Affiliates Program in Washington DC, and a member of several clergy associations and community associations.

My wife Ella and I are proud parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The first edition of my book “Taxes & Tithes, It’s Your Money" was released in 2006. My eBook The 5 R’s of Successful Fundraising is now available and Taxes & Tithes 2 will be available in early 2024 as well as other writings geared to help Nonprofits succeed in the work they have been called to do.
