Willie Peterson
Born and raised in Youngstown, OH where I now serve as the pastor of the NewBirth KimmelBrook Baptist Church, the president and CEO of both The Center for Community Empowerment and WEPete Inc.
In 1995, while the pastor of the Oberlin Bible Fellowship, I began the quest into community organizing and the faith-based Initiative. It began when I was approached by a couple of the members of the church I was attending in Lorain OH about attending a grant-writing seminar to learn of new ways to meet the needs of the community where I served as pastor. Within a short period of time, I received certification as a grant writer and immediately went to work.
